SPOONERISM

Have you ever tried to say something but then it happened that the speaking ‘got accident’ ? It doesn’t come out as you expected.

It is called Spoonerism.

Well, still don’t get it?

Okay, here is an example :

“Mam., last night, I had a dad brim!” Do you know what the meaning is? I don’t! unless I had to think hardly that he got an ‘accident’.

Then I realized that he was trying to say,” Mam, I had a bad dream”!

Where is the term “Spoonerism” after?

The Reverend Dr W A Spooner was a very important man in Oxford University but he used to have accidents in speaking. He often changed the beginning of two words like this :

# We all know the feeling when we have a half-warmed fish in our hearts.

( He meant to say a half-formed wish)

# Kinkering Kongs their titles take.

(the first line of a religious song, or hymn, is really Conquering kings their titles take.)

So Dr Spooner’s name forms part of the name we give to accidents of that kind: spoonerism.

· This country owes much to its horny-handed tons of soil.

(for sons of toil)

Toil : hard work

· Our queer dean! (for dear Queen)

Encyclopedic World Dictionary

Queer : very unusual

Dean : important man in the church or a university.

Here are some spoonerisms for you to work out:

· He stopped at the gate, “High mause!” he said proudly.

· “ I’m sad to glee you”

· The trast lane goes at nidmight.”

· I’m going to fight the liar because it’s crowing gold.”

KIBI 56

Just for your information (FYI) we are going to hold the KIBI (Short Course for English) for the PTIK Students batch 56.
It will be done in a week from January 4 until January 11, 2010.
First of all a placement test will be held for the skills.
Some lessons we are going to have are " Some parts of speech, How to make sentences, passive voice, How to make questions either in W-H Questions and Yes/No Questions."
We are going to make how the terms of INP institution such as Kapolsek, Kapolres, Kanitlantas etc. Do you know how to use them? Cannot wait to see you, guys!

Beberapa kali saya ditanyai tentang persyaratan masuk PTIK, saya masih menunda karena harus mencarinya dahulu. Kini saya tuliskan persyaratan untuk masuk PTIK Learning Long Distance. Saya tidak tahu apakah persyaratannya berbeda antara satu Polda dengan Polda yang lain. Ini saya cantumkan Polda di mana saya tinggal yaitu Polda Jawa Barat.

1. PERSYARATAN UMUM

1) PERWIRA POLRI LULUSAN AKPOL ATAU D-3 PTIK, YANG BELUM MENGIKUTI DIK SELAPA POLRI (TAHUN MAKSIMAL...*).

2) MINIMAL BERPANGKAT IPTU DENGAN MDDP 1 (SATU) TH PADA TANGGAL (.....*)

3) USIA MAKSIMAL 32 TH PADA SAAT PEMBUKAAN PENDIDIKAN.

4) MEMILIKI KINERJA YANG BAIK/ PRESTASI TUPOK POLRI YANG MENONJOL YANG DIBUKTIKAN DENGAN SURAT KEPUTUSAN KAPOLRI/ KAPOLDA.

5) TIDAK BERMASALAH (MEMILIKI SURAT KETERANGAN HASIL PENELITIAN/ SKHP YANG DIKELUARKAN DARI POLDA/ MABES POLRI).

6) DITUNJUK/ DIUSULKAN DENGAN SPRIN UNTUK MENGIKUTI SELEKSI DARI KA/ PIMPINAN YANG BERWENANG DARI KA/ PIMP YANG BERWENANG.
